There is nothing better than a dab of color on your cheeks but there is some debate around which blush to use. At the end of the day the preference really lies with you, but here is some helpful info on each type to help you choose.
1. Powder Blush
Just about everyone uses powder blushes, or at least has tried it once. Powder blushes are generally well pigmented, which means that application will last throughout the day. Powder blushes are applied with brushes, depending on what type of affect you are going for, an angled blush brush is great for contouring your cheek bones. You can use a warm toned powder blushes such as a neutral brown or a bronzer to contour your face, such as your nose, cheek bones, forehead and jaw line. You can build up on a color such as a plum or peach once you have contoured to give you sharper facial features.
2. Tinted or Gel Blush
Also very popular, tinted blush comes in many colors to choose from and is not as pigmented as powder blush, although you may find a pigmented tinted blush here and there, it depends on the brand. It is usually in a liquid form. Tinted blush is applied by dabbing the cheeks with your finger or a sponge. I find the application with my fingers sufficient, although be sure to be quick in your application as tinted blushes can dry very quickly. Gel blushes are well suited for oily skin.
3. Shimmers or Highlights
Highlighters have become very popular to create dewy complexions. Whether your make up is intense, or light, there is nothing more attractive than the light capturing hues of a good highlighter. Highlighter comes in powder or liquid form, again the preference is yours depending on the look you want to achieve. Highlighter is gently dusted on the areas of the face where light naturally falls on the face, this would be just above the cheek bones, the bridge of the nose, forehead and cupids bow.
